Café Baby in the Pursuit of Keeping Baby Food and Coding Simple

Just Like Every Baby Deserves Access to Affordable Baby Food; Every Workflow Deserves Accessible Coding Equipment

What is Café Baby Known for?

Those little hands and feet won’t be little for very long and before you know it, your baby will begin to make the transition to solid food. If you’re a first time parent, then transitioning to solid food can seem like a daunting process, especially because you want to make sure that the food you’re giving your little one is as healthy and nutritious as possible. Trust us when we say that you’re not alone in this; in fact, mother-daughter duo, Sherri and Jeannie, started Café Baby because they couldn’t find an alternative to store-bought baby food.

Café Baby was created to help combat the misconception that all baby food is created equally; this team believes every baby should have access to affordable baby food, but there’s much more to the mission than just that; the goal has always been to:

  • Create baby food that is flavorful and fun
  • Free of artificial flavors and preservatives
  • Not older than the baby consuming it

What Was Café Baby’s Initial Coding Concern?

When Jeannie Marrugo, Cofounder and CEO, of Café Baby first contacted our experts here at Sneed, they made it clear that adding date codes to their packaging was their top priority and for good reason. According to Hormel Foods,

  • “It is important to note that the United States does not have a uniform system of coding expiration dates on food products…The federal government requires expiration dates only on baby foods and infant formula.”

So, you can understand why adding date code information, as quickly as possible, was Café Baby’s main priority. It’s also important to note that there are five main date codes that consumers are more than likely to see while buying perishable goods and they are:

  • Sell by Date
    • This information lets the store know how long it’s acceptable to display the product that’s for sale.
  • Best by Date
    • This date isn’t placed for safety purposes; it’s added to let the consumer know when the product tastes the best or when it’s at its peak quality.
  • Use by Date
    • This information tells us the last date recommended for use of the product while at peak quality.
  • Expires on Date
    • This is the last date that a product can be used and it’s typically found on items that go bad quickly; this date is certain to be found on infant formula.
  • Use or Freeze by Date
    • Some perishables will have a date that lets you know the last possible day you can prepare or freeze the item; some products can be frozen to prolong their shelf life.

What Difference did the SNEED-JET® Titan T6 Make?

Under federal law, Café Baby had to make sure that their product had expiration dates visible and what better way to do so than by adding our SNEED-JET ® Titan T6 handheld thermal-inkjet printer. According to Jeannie Marrugo,

  • “The Titan T6 has been very reliable compared to our last printer; it has increased operational efficiency by allowing us to date more containers in a shorter amount of time; we’re now using the printer 3-4 days and producing roughly 500 prints per week.

Not only has the SNEED-JET ® Titan T6 helped Café Baby simplify their coding process, but integrating it into their existing workflow was a lot easier than they would have expected. Regardless of whichever industry needs help initiating or simplifying their coding processes, we know that our thermal-inkjet coders will be the technology to get the job done.

Both Café Baby and Sneed Coding Solutions can agree that there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution, rather customization is the way to go.

Are you looking for a coding solution that can add date codes, lot codes, batch codes, barcodes, etc.?

Our SNEED-JET® Titan T6 Helped Café Baby add the date codes that the federal government required, it can do the same for your product.

Like always, we’re #KeepingCodingSimple
