Pioneers of Cold-Brew Coffee Concentrate and Keeping Coding Simple
To beat the scorching heat of summer, what could be more satisfying than indulging in a revitalizing cold brew from CoolBrew, the pioneering cold-brewed coffee concentrate? Established back in 1989 by the visionary pharmacist Phillip McCrory, CoolBrew's inception stemmed from his quest for a smoother, less acidic coffee experience, leading him to rediscover the cold drip process known for its popularity in New Orleans. Through meticulous experimentation, Phillip honed a method to craft a rich, velvety coffee blend, and he even designed a convenient bottle for effortless home serving.
Driven by the escalating demand for cold brew, CoolBrew embarked on a growth journey and transitioned to a sprawling 30,000-square-foot facility to cater to both present needs and future aspirations. Today, this beloved, family-run enterprise stands as a testament to Phillip's passion and innovation, now steered by his sons, Greg and Jeff McCrory. Committed to preserving their father's remarkable legacy, the McCrory brothers are dedicated to spreading the joy of freshly brewed, cold coffee to aficionados of CoolBrew across the nation.
Coding and Marking Challenges
As CoolBrew scaled up, they encountered new customer marking requirements, necessitating accurate lot numbers and dates on plastic bottles and cardboard boxes. Initially, the coding process was cumbersome and prone to complications. Jeff McCrory, the president of CoolBrew, recalls:
- “We were looking for a simple way to print lot numbers and dates on two locations on each plastic bottle and on two sides of our cardboard boxes. These were new requirements by one of our new customers.”
The existing marking methods were labor-intensive, requiring daily disassembly for cleaning, which not only made a mess but consumed a significant amount of time.
Seamless Integration with SNEED-JET®
The introduction of SNEED-JET® Titan printers revolutionized CoolBrew’s coding and marking process. The user-friendly setup and programming facilitated a quick installation, as Jeff noted:
- “It was very simple to set up. It took about 20 minutes to install on the line and about 5 minutes to program.”
The four SNEED-JET® Titan printers currently in use accommodate the company's rigorous daily production demands, efficiently handling 6,000 to 12,000 prints per day. The transition not only simplified maintenance but also enhanced operational efficiency. As Jeff shared:
- “The SNEED-JET® Titan printers are easy to maintain and very reliable. The print quality is very clear.”
With the need for daily disassembly eliminated, the team at CoolBrew can now redirect their focus to more critical operations, ultimately improving productivity. The exceptional performance and reliability of the printers have led to strong endorsements from CoolBrew:
- “I have recommended these printers to several other packaging companies, as I feel they are the easiest to set up and operate, and the price is very reasonable.”
By integrating Titan printers, CoolBrew has effectively optimized its coding and marking processes, ensuring precision and consistency while freeing up valuable time for other business-critical activities.
