Case Erectors Open Automation Opportunities and Case Sealers Seal The Deal
You’ve heard about case sealers and case coders before, but now there’s case erectors and case sealers; what a better way to streamline your packaging process than with this duo. While many individuals confuse these pieces of equipment or are completely oblivious to their existence, they make the biggest difference in your packaging process when paired together.
When implemented separately, these pieces of equipment still save you time, money and materials, but if you’re looking for maximum results, then we strongly suggest using them together.
What’s the Purpose of a Case Erector and Case Sealer?
A case erector, also known as a carton erector or box erector, is simply a box maker; it opens flattened cartons, forms them and then seals the bottoms. One of the many benefits of using a case erector is that your boxes are guaranteed to have 90° corners; which doesn’t seem like that much of a difference, but perfect corners ensure the integrity of your boxes’ structure. In addition, when perfectly formed boxes are being stacked onto pallets and wrapped it’s a lot easier and secure. Lastly, not only does a case erector cut assembly times, but material waste is also being cut.
A case sealer is a piece of equipment that will properly tape or glue your boxes after the contents of the package has been packed. The great thing about case sealers is that the exact amount of glue or tape will be used for each box; think about it, with the exact amount of adhesive being used, you no longer have to worry about material waste. Not only are you saving on materials, but the finalized look of your package will be a lot more uniform and professional.
Can You Use Any Case Sealer With Any Case Erector?
When we paired up our case coders with our case sealers we mentioned that you couldn’t just randomly mix and match, the same thing applies with our case sealers and erectors. At the moment our three case erector models are best suited for use with our fully automatic flap folding carton sealer.
- This case sealer can seal up to 25 boxes per minute
- The max packaging dimensions it can handle are (L600xW500xH500mm)
- The minimum packaging dimensions it can handle are (L200xW150xH150mm)
- The machine’s dimensions are (L1770xW850xH1520mm)
- The only time manual labor is required is to make width and height adjustments to the carton’s specifications.
What Are the Benefits to Implementing Both?
We’ve mentioned that adding a case sealer and case erector can streamline your packaging process, but by how much exactly? Well our carton erector models can form up to 10, 12 and 18 boxes per minute, while the average worker can only form 2-5 boxes per minute. The compatible case sealer can seal up to 25 boxes per minute. Sure having one or the other would still make quite the impact, but having them both would mean that you’re forming and sealing boxes on the fly.
You don’t have to worry about material waste due to human error being taken out of the equation; in the long run it’s more cost effective to run equipment like this than having to pay someone to do the same task; you can put your time to better use and you’re increasing production in a smaller amount of time. Not to mention that the structure of your package is more secure and neater.
